MANUS is hiring a Financial Controller to take over from our current Controller, who is retiring. You will inherit a well-run finance function in a fast-growing deep-tech company that is on track to cross the statutory audit thresholds. Your job is to keep the books clean today, lift our financial controls to the next level, and prepare the company for its first audit. Whether the growth continues at pace or stabilizes, this role is the financial foundation of the company.

You will start with a structured handover from the current Controller to ensure continuity.

Job Description
You own the day-to-day financial operation. The CFO sets strategy, manages investors, and runs stakeholder engagement; you make sure finance is operationally excellent and continuously improving. This is a hands-on role: you run the administration yourself, but you also have the mandate and the autonomy to shape how finance works at MANUS for the next several years.

MANUS is a CAPEX-intensive hardware company. Cash and liquidity get the highest priority, every day. You will be the person who watches this with conviction and keeps the rest of the leadership informed.

You'll also have the freedom and budget to improve the way we work. We're a deep-tech company, and we want our finance function to feel like one too. If you see opportunities to simplify processes, introduce better tools, or just make life easier for yourself and the team, we want to hear them.

Your Responsibilities

·        The full financial administration in Exact: month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, with clean reconciliations across ledger and balance sheet

·        Short-term cash and liquidity forecasting in a capital-intensive growth environment

·        Preparation of the annual budget

·        Hedging policy, jointly with the CFO

·        Bringing administration and internal controls to audit-ready level, and leading the preparation of our first statutory audit

·        Financial consolidation across the group, including our US subsidiary and our expansion plans in Asia. You will lead the administrative setup and local tax compliance

·        Periodic reporting and analysis, flagging risks, opportunities, and improvement points to the leadership team

·        Continuously improving the way finance works at MANUS, from process design to tooling, with the freedom to propose and implement what you think makes sense

·        Regular review of our insurance coverage and recommendations for expansion when needed

·        Primary point of contact for our (statutory) auditor

·        Designing the payment authorisation workflow

·        Acting as financial sparring partner to the CFO and CEO

·        Shaping a potential part-time administrative support hire, post-handover, with significant input from you

The operational work you take over
After the handover, you will own the day-to-day execution. We expect this list to evolve as you find smarter ways to handle parts of it.

·        Bookkeeping in Exact and management of the Exact setup

·        Accounts payable and receivable

·        Tangible and intangible fixed assets

·        Inventory

·        R&D projects, including capitalization and amortisation

·        Management of committed subsidies

·        Cashflow management and forecasting

·        Monthly close: P&L, balance sheet, reporting

·        Consolidation and intercompany positions

·        Balance sheet file preparation

·        Year-end close

·        Revenue and order intake registration

·        Review of payroll and the payment proposal

·        Expense claims

·        Payroll tax filings

·        ICP and VAT registration and filings

·        US sales tax registration and filings

Our Ideal Candidate

·        HBO or WO degree in accountancy, finance, or equivalent

·        At least 4 years of experience in a CAPEX-intensive business, where you have developed real instincts for cash management and understand that liquidity in a fast-growing hardware company is a daily discipline

·        Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate financial data into clear and reliable insight

·        Hands-on experience with Exact, ideally also with ERP systems

·        A curious approach to your work: you enjoy finding better ways to do things and have ideas about how modern tools can support a finance function

·        A doer: you understand this role is both strategic and operational, and you're energised by both

·        Independent, accurate, and self-directed

·        Comfortable with the structure where you run finance operationally and the CFO and CEO are accountable upward to the board and investors

·        Strong communicator, willing and able to keep the leadership team sharp on the numbers

·        Committed to the role for the long term

 

A plus would be

·        Experience preparing a company for its first statutory audit

·        Strong written and spoken English (we operate internationally, with entities in the US and Asia)

·        Familiarity with BI tools like Power BI and consolidation software

·        Background in an internationally operating, fast-growing technology company
