Overview

The Motive 3 Plugin for MANUS Core 2 enables live-streaming finger data of OptiTrack Metagloves and previous generation OptiTrack Gloves into Motive:Body 3.

Motive 3 Plugin

Overview

Motive 3 ships with an older MANUS Core plugin, only compatible with the previous generation OptiTrack Gloves.

Downloading

The Motive 3 Plugin for MANUS Core 2 can be downloaded from the MANUS Resource Center.

Installation

Plugins are installed in Motive's devices folder, which is typically located in "C:\Program Files\OptiTrack\Motive\devices\".

  • Remove the outdated "ManusVRPeripheral.dll" from the devices folder.
  • Copy the new "ManusPeripheralDevice.dll" into the devices folder.

Usage

Before launching Motive 3, make sure to:

  • Launch MANUS Core 2.
  • Have your MANUS dongle connected.

When launching Motive 3:

  • Motive 3 will load the plugin on start-up.
  • The plugin will try to connect to MANUS Core 2.
  • If MANUS Core 2 is not running, Motive 3 will stop trying to connect after a number of attempts.
  • If Motive 3 has stopped attempting to connect, run MANUS Core 2 and restart Motive 3.

You can use the Log panel to verify the plugin has loaded and MANUS Core 2 has connected.

It’s recommended to close the MANUS Core Dashboard while running Motive 3. MANUS Core will continue to run in the background even when the MANUS Core Dashboard is closed.

Local & Remote Glove Data

Glove Server

The plugin can receive MANUS Core 2 data from either a local or remote computer.

Enter the IP of the computer running MANUS Core 2 in the Glove Server Address to connect.

The Glove Server Address can be configured in the General Settings.

Make sure your firewall does not block Motive 3 or MANUS Core 2 from sending or receiving data.

Exporting Asset Definitions

For hands only tracking, the rigid body alignment for the created hand skeleton can be exported in case the same asset definition needs to be used again:

For full-body skeletons, however, this alignment process will need to be repeated as the exported asset will no longer be reliable after the person takes off the suit or removes the markers.
