Software Setup

Step 1

Start by logging in to our Resource Center. If you don't have an account please create one.

Step 2

Download and install the latest version of Manus Core Web Installer on our resource center.
Manus Core is a background application that handles all of the glove data.
Manus Core must be running in order to make use of the gloves.

Step 3

Install the MANUS Core software.

Profile Creation

When you start MANUS Core for the first time, it will take you through a first-time setup to configure your devices.

First, choose a name for your user profile

Then, depending on your hardware, the first-time setup can take you through setting it up. You can set up your gloves, trackers, or both. You can also skip this process altogether and set up everything manually later.

MANUS Quantum Metagloves

First, MANUS Core will check for any connected gloves and dongles. So, make sure the device your trying to setup is either plugged in or in pairing mode.

Once detected MANUS Core will attempt to automatically pair and assign your devices.

Successfully paired devices will light up green.

Once connected the next step is to calibrate your gloves.

Calibration

There are three steps to calibrate each MANUS Quantum Metaglove.

Step 1

Place your hand on a horizontal non-metal flat surface and close your fingers but point your thumb outwards. Then, hold still while the sensor data is being collected.

Step 2

Close your fingers and rest your thumb on the side. Then, wait for the calibration of this step to complete.

Step 3

Touch the base of the palm of your hand repeatedly with your fingertips. Continue till the calibration step is complete.

Repeat the same steps for your other glove.

MANUS Prime Gloves

First, MANUS Core will check for connected gloves and dongles.

If your devices are connected wired or in the pairing mode, they will light up green. If they are not detected, the icons will remain greyed out.

Once your devices are connected, you will be able to calibrate your Prime gloves.

Calibration

There are three steps to calibrate each Prime Series glove.

Step 1

Make a fist: close your fingers and rest your thumb on the side. Then, wait for the calibration of this step to complete.

Step 2

Straighten your fingers and bend your thumb. Again, hold still untill the step is complete.

Step 3

Make a pistol: straighten your index finger and thumb , and close all other fingers. Wait for the calibration to complete.

Do the same for your other glove.

Gloves with trackers

For gloves see the Quantum and Prime specific steps listed above.

After you complete the calibration for your gloves, it's time to configure your tracking system.

MANUS Core supports OpenVR(SteamVR) and ART tracking.

If you accidentally choose the setup with trackers and you only want to configure the gloves, you can either choose “None” from the dropdown menu or skip this step.

With the tracking system configured, you can assign the trackers to the gloves in the Profile Settings.

Trackers only

If you just want to configure trackers, you will see a menu where you can choose between the two currently supported tracking systems: OpenVR (SteamVR) and ART.

OpenVR lets you specify the update rate for the trackers (which is 90 maximum).

With the tracking system configured, you can assign the trackers to the gloves in the Profile Settings. For tracker calibration see the article on polygon calibration.
